On the list – Coinbase had to review hiring plans given the crypto winter impacting its financial results. The stock exchange seems to want to help the victims of the changes in its HR planning. But the interpretation of this support must in fact be much more nuanced.
Coinbase’s HR Response Under Reject Pressure
Coinbase has created a public database called Talent Hub. This tool officially aims to help people affected by the hiring freeze.
Some candidates that the scholarship was originally supposed to recruit, were indeed ultimately rejected. Coinbase rescinded their job offer.
The company wants to look good by launching Talent Hub. But the reality behind the launch of this database is less rosy, however. The stock market has mostly taken this initiative, under pressure from several unsuccessful candidatesand not on their own.
From a technical point of view, how is the process of submitting applications to Talent Hub?
Candidates can add themselves to the database: their name, their skills, their current company, and their contact details. Talent Hub currently contains 323 profiles, most of which are software engineers.

Talent Hub: between HR efficiency and DIY marketing
Will this showcase of skills really help the people concerned? Objectively, such a device does not offer any guarantee of effectiveness for candidates.
Coinbase mostly seems to be leading an HR marketing and institutional communication operation by setting up this database. The company is trying to restore its image.
Talent Hub is in a way a response to the many tweets against the stock market. Twitterers have taken aim at how the stock market has characterized layoffs, hiring freezes, or cancellations of offers.
The company had used the euphemism “recruitment update” to describe these decisions. However, these remarks did not help to pass the pill, given the reactions of indignation on social networks.
One of the only objective facts that can be remembered today, beyond any smooth talk of the stock exchange, is that Coinbase hurt some people more than others.
Some candidates, for example, needed these rescinded hires to keep their immigration status.
Other exchanges, like Gemini which had to dismiss 10% of its staff because of the bear marketwill they also launch tools similar to Talent Hub?
